Bowring Stories
Knowsley Hey Dance Showcase

Well done to the year 9 dancers who recently performed at a Knowsley dance showcase event. They have been preparing for the event since September, learning and perfecting the routine every week. All the girls involved thoroughly enjoyed the event and are all keen to continue dancing wherever and whenever they can. We look forward to seeing them in Dance events in the future.

Netball Organisers

Netball Organisers

Knowsley Hey have recently trained 15 year 10 and 11 girls to become Netball Organisers. The pupils involved completed training to a very high standard and are looking forward to using their skills to train primary school pupils. Placements have been set up for our young Leaders in Huyton with Roby, St Aidans, The Sylvester School and St Agnes. The Leaders will then bring their teams to a High 5’s Tournament at Knowsley Hey in January.

Gymnastics Evening

Gymnastics Evening

A big thank you goes out to the year 9 and 11 pupils who assisted with the Primary Gymnastics Evening. Primary school pupils from St Brigids, St Agnes and Ninetree attended and enjoyed working on a variety of Gymnastics areas. The Gymnastics helpers delivered to an extremely high standard and ensured that the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

The Sylvester School: Sport Week

The children at Sylvester Primary were all given the opportunity to participate in a week of sport.  Children did football with the LFC coaches, golf, gymnastics, handball, multi-skills, circuit training and relaxation.  The FA also awarded the school the county winners for football.

Nine Tree: Nine Trees Shaky Start

Whilst most pupils walk calmly and quietly into school, children at Nine Tree  are being encouraged to move about as much as possible - and Wake Up Shake Up.
Pupils spend fifteen minutes each morning taking part in an exercise programme designed to enhance their classroom performance. PE Coordinator, Mike Dignam,
explained Nine Trees commitment to exercise: Studies have shown that children who partake in physical activity are more mentally alert during the school day. Along with our Wake Up Shake Up programme, all children have two hours PE a week and we encourage everyone to get involved in physical activites after school too. There are plenty to choose from - with a different activity on offer each day - including netball, athletics and dance. The school also offers a regular boxing course coached by Andy Furlong of Huyton Boxing Club and takes part in the Huyton School League, run by North Huyton New Deal for Communitues Football Development Officer, Barry Lloyd.
The hard work of staff and pupils has won the school a host of awards - most recently at The Knowsley Indoor Athletics Tournament when Nine
Tree, the smallest school in the Collaborative, brought home an
impressive eleven medals

St Aidans: Cardiocise

At St Aidan’s we have started “Cardiocise” on a Thursday morning at 9 o‘clock.  “Cardiocise” is half an hour of circuit training for children and their parents.  During the session the participants get chance to try different exercises that will help to improve their skills and fitness.
Everybody enjoys the club because they know it is important to get active and stay healthy.
All of the children involved enjoy going because they get to spend some time with their parents in school while they are learning.
Cardiocise is run by Tom (who is great with the children) he gives everybody clear instructions about what they should be doing during each exercise, he makes sure they are doing it safely and correctly.

As an incentive to attend the children are allowed to wear their own sports clothes for the club.  We have had a brilliant uptake on this and feel that it is an asset to the school

Huyton With Roby: Football Coaching

KS1 and KS2 children at Huyton with Roby have had their football skills tested by a visit from Liverpool Football Club Academy coaches.
The children had the chance to practise their skills, pick up handy tips on technique and put it all together in a shoot out activity at the end of the session.
All children participated and fun was had by all.  Hopefully another Steven Gerrard may be discovered.
