Bowring Sports Council

Sports Council

The Bowring Community Sports College Young Ambassadors have set up our first Sports Council. The Young Ambassadors collected applications and interviewed applicants to sit on the sports council from every form in the school. They have now appointed over 30 Sports prefects who will sit on the council and meet every half term to discuss PE and school sport and what impact they can have. They will also be responsible for encouraging participation and leadership within their form groups.

A big thank you goes out to the year 11 pupils who assisted with the Primary Gymnastics Evening. Primary school pupils from Malvern, Roby Park, St Aloysius and Park View attended and enjoyed working on a variety of Gymnastics areas. The Gymnastics helpers delivered to an extremely high standard and ensured that the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Malvern School: Playleaders

Malvern Primary school is currently promoting play at lunchtime by training Year 6 children as play leaders.
The play leaders organise and lead structure play at both playtimes and lunchtimes.  “It’s a great idea and the leaders are showing great skills at organisation and leadership” said Tracy Cornell, Learning Mentor.  It has also helped with the behaviour.
Overall the children show great enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Roby Park Primary: Co-operation On The Playground

Co-operation on the playground
Playleaders and buddies with some of their customers!!

At Roby Park we used to have two groups doing similar jobs, Buddies and Play Leaders. We decided that co-operation between the two groups was very important to the smooth running of our lunchtime games. The two groups now work together, particularly with the infants.
Both sets of children distribute the equipment and organise appropriate games. The infants line up and wait for the Buddies and Play Leaders assigned to their class and then equipment is given out. The dinner ladies are very happy with this arrangement.
